There are many reasons why you may be seeking some support through counselling. It may be that you are facing challenging circumstances in your personal or professional life. You may have recently experienced a loss or it may be that events from the past are impacting on how you are managing in the present. Perhaps you are experiencing difficulty in your relationships with either communication or anger management.
I believe that counselling offers a place to be heard on a profound level in a supportive relationship. My way of working is to pay attention to the way that you as an individual tell your story, what that means to you and which areas you experience difficulties. Telling your story is often a huge step in the direction of finding a way through difficulty. Sharing your thoughts and feelings with someone is not always easy and it is particularly important that you feel supported and confident in the therapist to do so. I have experience of supporting people with high levels of anxiety and with issues such as anger management, eating disorders and self harm. I have qualifications in safely working through trauma and using mindfulness for emotional safety and stabilisation. I may work with creativity as a tool for building self esteem and expressing difficult thoughts and feelings if this is something that has benefit for you. I have many years experience of using creative writing for therapeutic benefit and have been facilitating "writing for wellbeing" groups following a Masters degree at University of Sussex in 2008.
I currently work from therapy rooms in St Leonards on Sea, Stone Cross and Eastbourne. I worked for YMCA in Brighton for over two years counselling young adults. I have also been a counsellor at Counselling Plus Community (low cost counselling) since 2014. I have developed creative writing for well-being groups as well as an anger management group. I also co-facilitated a creative therapy group for women who have experienced abuse. I have experience in running anger management groups for a charity in Hastings.
